2022-09-17 Kent's Blog Update - Last two days!

Thursday we sailed the Hatch.   3.9 foiling and 4.8 finning were the calls and it was a lot of fun.  Dale came up and sailed with everyone (or sailed past us at 40kph).  Man is he fast.   Kent and Dale went up to swell and Dale showed him where the best swells were.

While Kent and Dale were up wind a barge came through.  Man do they sail close to the Washington side!

After it passed there was a bit of excitement as the barge laid on it’s horn because some sailer was not getting out of the way.   Turns out it was Jim.   No more detail other than to say Jim’s wet suit may need a bit of sanitation.

So after a great day at the hatchery we all went to China Gorge for dinner.   A quick review of the forecast indicated that the wind would kick at Arlington on Friday and all the plans to end the trip at Roosevelt and head north started.

Friday, there was a hick-up or two as the forecast changed in the morning and some favored the event site but in the end we all headed to Roosevelt and arrived around noon…

It was so windy Brad and Blaine decided to watch for an hour and then start driving if the wind did not drop.   Kent rigged a 3.2 and was the first on the water.   Jim went 3.5.   Brad and Blaine decided to come out and play and were on 3.9 and I think 3.5 but not sure.  Al finned with a 4.8.  A great day was had by all!

At 4pm we packed up.  Blaine, Brad, Ed, Jim, Cam, and Kent all drove to Sand Point.   Al and Ross headed back to hood river and I think Mike stayed at Roosevelt.

What an end to a great trip.  11 days straight for me and damn did I ever learn a lot.   The foilers, wingers, and kiters were all on their game jibing all over the river..  WOW..

See you all next year!

Mike responded that he had a great day at Roosevelt with everyone else, that he had his best day ever with 67km traveled, and that he drove to Fernie that night where he spent the night.  He then picked up a new (to him) E-Bike in Calgary and arrived home by 3:30pm Saturday.
